This is the storytelling and world-building that I came to enjoy about Log Horizon. These girls’ introduction reiterates the fact that those previously perceived as mere NPCs are real people now, emphasising the need for the co-existence of the two groups. The story about the scales mission and how that tied in nicely to the battle with the two Geniuses regarding memories was great. The sisters stood out to me due to their backstory. Instead, I was more excited to see the development of recurring characters. While new characters, both People of the Land and Adventurers, joined the scene, they didn’t really stand out much to me (maybe apart from the Mofur sisters). The raid scenes were definitely entertaining, even if I didn’t exactly understand the game strategy orders being thrown around. Still, after this arc, I’m excited to see the potential of the series as they introduce other servers in the mix.Īnd while I’m not the biggest Minori fan, the final episodes highlighting her were very fun to watch. I guess it was a way to break up the seriousness of the series that was covered so far. But I didn’t get the way they portrayed the story, with a puppet show no less. While I feel a bit bummed out that they rushed through Krusty’s arc, still I’m really glad to see it. The politics aside, the second half of the series did start looking like the Log Horizon I enjoyed. The pacing of this did bother me that I actually felt like dropping it. I felt like the impact of these changes was not translated as well as it should be, especially for those of us in the audience who’s not the most sophisticated. Yet, I felt like it didn’t look that entertaining on-screen: different characters talk about what they’ll do, then they do it on the next episode, then next episode they talk again about what they’ll do and it repeats. So, I definitely get why they’d want to spend a significant amount of time on this. I understand that one of the most pivotal moments of the show is the breakup of the Round Table, as the Round Table has played a crucial role in establishing the Adventurers’ place in the Elder Tales world. All of this was within my expectations as I started the show, yet somehow it felt much slower than it’s supposed to be. The Round Table is left to make a difficult decision to maintain the balance and prosperity of the town.Īs the previous seasons have shown, the pacing of Log Horizon is much slower than other shows of the same genre and the show explores more political themes concerning a huge group of people suddenly being transported to another world. With Krusty’s disappearance, the appearance of new monsters called ‘Geniuses’ and a power struggle between the Adventurers and People of the Earth aristocrats, there’s increasing unrest in Akiba. Picking up from where the second season left off, it’s been a year since players became stuck in the MMORPG Elder Tale’s world. Wondering if it lives up to the previous seasons’ legacy, I eagerly watched this latest instalment. Despite being another isekai anime series like Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken, I was pulled in with the intricate worldbuilding they portrayed in the first two seasons, something that many other isekais failed to achieve. I never thought Log Horizon would ever get its third season, so imagine my excitement when it finally made its comeback. Genres: Action, Game, Adventure, Magic, Fantasy
